Housing Benefit fraud

Housing and CounciNational Benefit Fraud ad campaignl Tax Benefit Fraud is a criminal offence. It is not a victimless crime. Allerdale Borough Council is committed to preventing and detecting Benefit Fraud. The Investigation Unit actively investigates allegations of Benefit Fraud and takes legal action against offenders.

Examples of Benefit Fraud

  • People who work but do not declare this when they claim benefit.
  • People who claim as a single person but actually live with a partner.
  • People who claim from an address but do not live there.
  • People who do not declare their full income or savings when they claim benefit.

Suspected Benefit fraud can be reported by either ringing the National Benefit Fraud Hotline, printing and filling in the Suspected Fraud Questionnaire below or completing the suspected fraud report electronic form.
