many projects are currently underway. This section contains
advice and information on a number of topics including:

rebuilt in a £45 million scheme with nearly £3 million spent
on an innovative public art programme. Find

Derwentwater Foreshore Project

and fell views and popular since the Victorian times this site has
deteriorated significantly in the face of increased visitor numbers
and is literally worn-out. This scheme will re-create hard and

intellectual access, increasing awareness of the heritage and
cultural importance of the site. find out more about the Derwentwater foreshore project.
Maryport Townscape Heritage Initiative
A five-year programme of works, called the
Maryport Townscape Heritage Initiative
and costing a total of £3.65 million, is set to transform the face
of Maryport and revitalise the historic-core of the town’s centre.
The scheme consists of renovation works to key buildings in the
town, environmental enhancements and a training programme for local
contractors to enable them to gain skills suitable for the repair
of historic buildings.
Harrington Harbour
There has been a quay at Harrington since 1760. The present
harbour facility was re-opened in the 1960s and there is now a need
for investment to bring it up to modern standards. Plans have been
developed to revitalise the harbour as the centre of the local
community. Find out about the Harrington
Harbour plans.
