Council Tax
Most homes are
subject to Council Tax, which which helps to pay for the cost of
local services. There is one bill per property, whatever the
property type, and whether it is owned or rented.
Paying your council tax
Council tax discounts and exemptions
Some properties are exempt from Council Tax, for
example if they are vacant or uninhabitable, and some people
will be eligible for discounts. In most cases however, the full
amount is payable.
Changes to your details and circumstances
You must notify us if you change name, address, or if
any other change occurs which is likely to affect the amount
of Council Tax you pay. Please get in touch using one of the
contact methods shown to the left of this page to let us know if
your circumstances change.
You can use the
Council Tax Change of Circumstances form to tell
us about a change of address. You should also use this
form if you are moving into the area.
How your council tax bill is calculated
Every property is allocated a valuation
band. Each band pays a different amount of Council Tax (A
the lowest, to H the highest).

My Property address search to see the charge for your
property including a breakdown of where the money is
used.
- You may appeal your Council Tax calculation if you think
you are not liable to pay, or (in certain limited circumstances)
appeal against the banding to the local Valuation Officer. Council Tax appeals has more information
