Rural Business Initiative
Who can apply?
The Rural Business Initiative has been set up to
assist the start-up and expansion of small businesses located
within the Borough of Allerdale (excluding Workington and Seaton).
The Initiative is a discretionary award for small and starter
businesses. Financial assistance is available for most types
of businesses, however, funding is not available for retail
outlets, vehicles, computer hardware and consumable goods.
The Rural Business Initiative is there to help
you at any stage of your business life, whether you are already
trading and need to expand, or whether you have an idea for a
product or service and would like to talk it over.
What can I apply for?
The fund is limited and generally awards are
made up to a maximum of £1,000. However, slightly higher
grants may be available at the discretion of the Council.
The RBI award is particularly geared to aiding
the purchase of specific items of expenditure such as:
- Pieces of equipment or machinery
- Training courses
- Publicity material
- Telephone installation
- Specialist Computer software (Not Hardware)
