Who can apply?

The Allerdale Business Initiative has been set up to assist the start-up and expansion of small businesses located within the Borough of Allerdale. The Initiative is a discretionary award for small and starter businesses. Financial assistance is available for most types of businesses, however, funding is not available for retail outlets, vehicles, computer hardware and consumable goods.

The Allerdale Business Initiative is there to help you at any stage of your business life, whether you are already trading and need to expand, or whether you have an idea for a product or service and would like to talk it over.

What can I apply for?

The fund is limited and generally awards are made up to a maximum of £1,000. However, slightly higher grants may be available at the discretion of the Council.

The ABI award is particularly geared to aiding the purchase of specific items of expenditure such as:

  • Pieces of equipment or machinery
  • Training courses
  • Publicity material
  • Telephone installation
  • Specialist computer software (Not Hardware)
