Unemployment and Deprivation Statistics
The Vision of Allerdale
Borough Council
Allerdale Borough Council's vision is of an area in which
all communities share in the prosperity currently enjoyed
in parts of the Borough. The goal of the council is that by
2011 Allerdale will work with regional and local partners to ensure
the number of people in work, as measured by the Economic Activity
Rate, continues to exceed the North West rate. Economic
regeneration initiatives implemented by both the private and public
sectors, as well as the local community, will play a key role
in helping the Council achieve this vision. The task of
reducing unemployment must be addressed by a
holistic approach; one that incorporates improvements to
the physical environment, creates an image of Allerdale
conducive to inward investment, and successfully links local
people to job opportunities.
