Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership strategic approach
practical example
Domestic Abuse
Leadership
Cumbria has a countywide approach to ensure that there is a
consistent approach to Domestic Abuse across the county. Senior
officers from many of the statutory partners sit on a Domestic
Violence Board which co-ordinates key activity across the county
and has theme groups leading on aspects of the plan.
Tackling Strategic Issues
There are a range of activities to change the culture
so that no one thinks that domestic abuse is okay or
normal.
Enforcement
The police have a consistent approach to reported incidents of
domestic abuse with a range of standard
procedures.
Infrastructure improvement
the nationally recommended actions in the National Domestic
Violence Plan are being implemented; Specialist Domestic Violence
Courts, Multi Agency Risk Assessment and Independent Domestic
Violence Advisers.
Advice and Support
Improvements are being made to advice and support for victims
and to perpetrators to enable them to change.
