Cemeteries
Allerdale Borough Council manages burial grounds located at
Workington, Flimby, Silloth, Maryport, Dearham, Brigham and Cockermouth. The
council deals with the administration and maintenance of the cemeteries. There
are no cremation facilities within Allerdale. This service can be provided by
neighbouring authorities, although the Council does accept, for the purpose of
burial, cremated remains within its cemeteries. Some Town and Parish Councils
also maintain and operate their own cemeteries. The church also manages and
administers burials within its own churchyards.
