Equality Impact Assessment: Concurrent Grant

Main purpose of the policy, service or function
The proposal seeks to reduce the amount paid to Town and Parish Councils in Concurrent Grant. It is proposed that Concurrent Grant (excluding contributions to local burial boards) will be reduced by 50% in 2013/14 with complete removal of Grant from 2014/15 onwards. Cost of works would be recovered through Parish Council Precepts.
Main activities or objectives of the policy, service or function
Concurrent Grant is awarded to Parishes to fund services which would usually be undertaken by the Authority. Concurrent Grant is principally used for Grounds Maintenance such as grass cutting, parish handyman work and inspecting play areas, contributions to a local burial board and running of Tourist Information Centres. The proposed reduction in the scheme excludes contributions to local burial boards.
