Our plans for 2010-11
Since the launch of
the Council's three-year Corporate Improvement Plan in 2008,
there have been a number of issues which have emerged and that
have meant that some of the priority outcomes that the Council
set are now either not achievable or not appropriate. Issues
include:
- Economic recession which was a contributing factor to the
Council's
transformation programme, resulting in savings of £3.5 million
on 2010-11
- The
flooding emergency which happened in November 2009 and still
required resources in terms of recovery in 2010-11
- Changing priorities of our communities.
It has also meant that the Council has fewer
resources to deliver all of the key projects and activities we said
we would deliver.
The Council recognised the need to re-evaluate
which of its targets we were likely to achieve and which are now
inappropriate for the remainder of the three-year plan. Officers
and members of the Council reviewed the content of the Corporate
Improvement Plan with the aim of re-evaluating what was achievable
and relevant within the current context. To ensure decisions were
evidenced-based, a range of information including performance
reports and customer perceptions and priorities from existing
consultation were considered.
On Wednesday 21 April 2010 full Council agreed the changes
made. There have been no changes made to the main body of the
Corporate Improvement Plan; instead revisions have been made to the
section called 'The Plan' which sets out our priority ouctomes,
actions, measures and targets.
The Council will work towards achieving the outcomes of the
refreshed Corporate Improvement Plan throughout 2010-11.
