Council news
At Allerdale
Borough Council we are committed to informing residents,
stakeholders and the media, about our activities, initiatives,
policies and priorities.
News releases
One of the ways we can inform residents is through the news
releases that we issue to the press and media.
The Communications and Marketing team issue approximately 200
press releases every year. All our news releases can be accessed,
free-of-charge, on the internet.
We aim to post every press release we produce on our website on
the same day it is issued to the press. We archive all our past
news releases and these are also available
online.
Media enquiries
The Communications and Marketing team deals with approximately
500 enquiries from journalists every year.
Our policy is for all non-political media enquiries to be routed
through the Communications team. This can be done by telephone,
email or online. The team will
either provide a response or direct journalists to the most
appropriate Council officer or councillor.
It is important that staff and members of Allerdale Borough
Council maintain strong, professional and honest links with the
media at all times. To help us achieve this aim we have media
protocols which give advice about how the Council will issue news
releases and deal with media enquiries and
interviews.
Allerdale Outlook
Allerdale Outlook, Allerdale Borough Council’s newspaper for
residents, is another way of informing residents about what is
happening at the Council. Visit the Allerdale
Outlook page for the latest and previous issues.
