04/03/2010 - Awards evening for organisations supporting the flood rescue and recovery effort

The flood rescue and recovery efforts of many different organisations are to be recognised in an awards ceremony held by Allerdale Borough Council.

The event will be held at the Hunday Manor Hotel, Workington, on Friday 12 March from 7pm. It will honour people locally, as well as those responding to the emergency from far and wide, who made extraordinary sacrifices to help others in need as a result of the November floods.

Those in line for an award, in recognition of their contribution to the flood response, include representatives of the Mountain Rescue, Inshore Patrol and Lifeboat teams, Police and Fire Services, Red Cross, Churches Together, the WRVS, housing associations and local supermarkets.

The awards evening is sponsored locally by Allerdale Borough Council, Iggesund and Pearson Vue.
