Carni McCarron-Holmes, Executive member with
responsibility for housing and health issues, said: “We want people
to come along and see how much they can save on their heating
bills. We can provide details of loft and cavity wall insulation
and provide advice on switching energy providers.
“Fuel Poverty has adverse effects on physical
and mental health. It is really important that people stay warm and
keep their homes heated to the levels needed to keep good
health.
“Fuel Poverty Awareness Day is this Friday, 10
February, and we are hoping that our events will also help raise
awareness of this national campaign which is aimed at raising
awareness of the health problems caused by living in cold, damp
homes and the help that is available.”
Refreshments and help with transport are
available.
