Attendance Figures At The Carnegie
The Carnegie Theatre in Workington has
announced the best set of Pantomime attendance figures achieved
since the late 1970s.
A total of 3,461 customers viewed 12 pantomime
performances at the Theatre over the Christmas period. Eight
performances of Sleeping Beauty presented by Workington and
District Amateur Musical Society attracted 2,548 visitors and four
schools performances of Cinderella presented by the professional
London-based Panto Company attracted 913 primary schoolchildren and
their teachers.
Primary schools attending Cinderella included
Thornhill, Westfield, Blennerhasset, Montreal (Cleator Moor),
Broughton Moor, St Joseph's (Frizington), Flimby, Netherton,
Silloth, StGregory's (Moorclose), St Michael's (Workington) and
Lowca.
Carnegie Theatre Manager Paul Sherwin
explained that the schools pantomime business had been growing
steadily over the past four years: "Local people are obviously
looking for quality performances at affordable prices and without
having to travel too far.
"We are already in discussions regarding a
proposed increase in the number of pantomime performances to be
held at the Carnegie Theatre for Christmas 2012."
