All welcome at the Big Energy Saving Week roadshow

23rd January 2014

A host of organisations are coming together next week to help Allerdale residents save money, save energy and get housing and benefits advice.

Allerdale Borough Council’s housing and health team has organised the roadshow as part of the Citizens Advice Bureau’s Big Energy Saving Week. They are working with Allerdale Citizens Advice Bureau, the Trades Hall, Age UK West Cumbria, Homegroup, Westfield Housing Association, the Foodbank and more to host the event at the X-Cataolgue Shop in Washington Square in Workington. Experts on energy saving, benefits, housing and welfare issues will be at the store from 10am to 3pm on Wednesday 29 January.

The event will also be used to promote the Big Allerdale Switch, a ‘collective switching’ scheme, which allows people to group together to purchase their gas and electricity and save money. The initiative is being run by Allerdale Borough Council but is open to all – irrespective of where you live. All domestic gas and electricity users, including those on prepayment meters, are eligible. And the more people who sign up, the bigger the savings are likely to be, so residents are being urged to spread the word to their family and friends.

To sign up to the scheme, come along to the event, visit www.allerdale.gov.uk/warmhomes, call 01900 702702, or visit Allerdale House or any of the Council’s district offices. You will need a copy of an energy bill to hand as information will be required from it.
