Christmas In Workington
Allerdale Borough Council wants to encourage
people to take part in a number of events happening in Workington
in the run up to Christmas.
Allerdale Borough Council has commissioned a
new series of audio recordings for the hub in Workington featuring
local adults at Moorclose Library and children at St. Gregory’s
School, talking about Christmas food, and questions they would ask
Santa. These seasonal recordings are heart-warming and will appeal
to all ages.
Soundwave is leading some impromptu singing at
The Hub over the next few weeks, running up to Christmas. These
will happen at different times, including some during the late
night shopping evenings.
The Council is working closely with Rosehill
to promote Urban Classical at Christmas which will feature opera
singer Victoria Simmonds at Our Lady Star of The Sea and St.
Michael’s Church on Sunday 18 December.
Councillor Mark Fryer, Executive member with
responsibility for arts and culture, said: “There are a lot of
exciting things happening in Workington in the run up to Christmas,
and I would like to encourage everyone to make the most of these
family friendly events.”
