Council Pledge on Health and Safety
Allerdale Borough Council has shown its
commitment to health and safety by signing up to the pledge to help
deliver the goals in the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE)
strategy.
The reason behind this is to ensure the main
goals in the HSE strategy are met which are: to reduce the number
of work-related fatalities, injuries and cases of ill health; to
gain widespread commitment and recognition of what real health and
safety is about; to motivate all those in the health and safety
system as to how they can contribute to an improved health and
safety performance and to ensure that those who fail in their
health and safety duties are held to account.
Councillor Philip Tibble, Executive member
with responsibility for health and safety, said: “As an employer,
Allerdale Borough Council takes a common-sense approach to reducing
safety and health risks which may affect its staff and others
affected by the Council’s activities and has recently re-launched
the Council’s Safety Group.
“The Council’s environmental health team also
provide advice and guidance on what the law requires, conduct
inspections and investigations, and take enforcement action where
appropriate.”
“I would also like to encourage other
employers to demonstrate their commitment to health and safety by
signing this pledge.”
