Dog Fouling Prosecution Bowness

24 June 2013

Allerdale Borough Council has prosecuted a Maryport woman for failing to clean up after her dog fouled.

Bethany Bowness, aged 25, of Crerar Close, Maryport, was fined £200, ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £20 surcharge by West Allerdale Magistrates Court on 20 June 2013.

The Court heard that, on the morning of 1 February 2013, one of Allerdale Borough Council’s Street Scene Officers was patrolling in Maryport when they witnessed a Staffordshire bull terrier fouling on the path next to the Sure Start centre between Ennerdale Road and Victory Crescent which the lady walking the dog failed to clean up.

The officer waited 10 minutes until approaching the lady walking the dog, Ms Bowness and explained the reason she was speaking to her and issued her with a fixed penalty.
