Dog fouling prosecution.

Allerdale Borough Council has prosecuted a Workington man for failing to clean up after his dog fouled.

Lee Matear, aged 34, of Cumberland Street, Workington, was fined £150, ordered to pay £80 in prosecution costs and a £20 surcharge by West Allerdale Magistrates Court on 12 September 2013.

The Court heard that, on the morning of 22 April 2013, one of Allerdale Borough Council’s Street Scene Officers was patrolling in Workington when they witnessed a Staffordshire bull terrier fouling on open land at the top of Cumberland Street.  The dog fouled 3 times so the officer followed the dog back down the lane and watched it go back into the house.

Mr Matear cleaned up the fouling and the officer issued him with a fixed penalty.
