Dog Fouling Prosecution Edgar

9 October 2013

Allerdale Borough Council has prosecuted a Workington man for failing to clean up after his dog fouled and providing a false name and address.

Martin Edgar, aged 26, of 15 Eadie Street, Harrington, was fined £75 for the dog fouling offence, £200 for provision of false name and address and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £25 surcharge by West Allerdale Magistrates Court on 3 October 2013.

The Court heard that, on the afternoon of 14 March 2013, one of Allerdale Borough Council’s Street Scene Officers was patrolling Harrington Marina when they witnessed a Staffordshire bull terrier fouling on the grass.  The dog fouled 3 times which the man failed to clean up. The officer waited 10 minutes until approaching the man walking the dog, Mr Edgar, and explained the reason she was speaking to him. Mr Edgar cleaned up the fouling and the officer issued him with a fixed penalty.  Mr Edgar provided a false name and address to the Officer.

The case was proved in Mr Edgar’s absence.
