Dog Fouling Prosecution Dawes

29 September 2014

Allerdale Borough Council has prosecuted a Workington woman for failing to clean up after her dog fouled.

Lynne Dawes, aged 47, of 18 Blackburn Street, Workington, was ordered to pay a fine totalling £380 by West Cumbria Magistrates Court on 25 September 2014.

The Court heard that, on the morning of Wednesday 14 May 2014, one of Allerdale Borough Council’s Street Scene Officers was patrolling in Workington when they witnessed a dog fouling at the grassed area near Senhouse Street in Workington.  The female failed to clear up after her dog, so the officer explained the reason she was speaking to her, and as she had been issued with a fixed penalty notice for a similar dog fouling offence in 2012, and in line with Allerdale Borough Council’s policy, she was not offered the opportunity to pay a fixed penalty notice on this occasion but instead the matter proceeded straight to prosecution.

The Council has a zero tolerance approach to dog fouling. Residents who witness dog fouling are asked to contact the Council and provide as much information as possible. To report dog fouling, visit www.allerdale.gov.uk/dogfouling, email customer.service@allerdale.gov.uk or telephone 01900 702800.
