Don’t lose your vote in the upcoming elections

28 January 2015

The date for the General and local elections is fast approaching, and Allerdale Borough Council is writing to all households to ensure that everyone who is eligible, gets the chance to cast their vote in May.

Following the introduction of Individual Electoral Registration, it is now up to each individual to make sure they are on the electoral register – rather than relying on a member of the household as previously.

The letter will show who is registered to vote at that address. Everyone living there should check the information carefully and make sure that it is correct. If there are no changes, then you do not need to do anything.

However, if you need to be added to the register then the easiest way to do so is online at . You will need to have your National Insurance number with you. If an entry needs amending then contact the Council’s Democratic Services section on 01900 702 550 or .

Andrew Seekings, the Council’s Electoral Registration Officer said, “We’ve less than 100 days until the elections and the council is making a final push to ensure the electoral register is as up to date as possible. It is really important that people check the information in the letter and don’t lose the chance to vote in May.”

The General and local elections will be held on Thursday 7 May 2015.
