Festival and Events Fund

8 August 2014

Allerdale Borough Council is committed to supporting the development of festivals and community based events in the borough. We have established a fund that seeks to support festivals and events through an application process where applicants can apply for either a grant or sponsorship depending on the nature of their event. Events we have supported in the first round of this year’s grants include; Belfagen Women’s Morris Dance Day, Cockermouth Live and Silloth Fusion Folk Festival.

There are two types of grants available, community and strategic, as well as sponsorship.

Community grants are to support a local event that will develop the cultural offer in its locality, support the local community and/or develop the skills of volunteers. The maximum grant is £1000

Strategic grants (a typical grant will be between £1000 and £5000) are to support new or fledgling festivals and events that will: develop the cultural offer in west Cumbria and support the local economy.

Sponsorship is for established festivals and events that offer a promotional opportunity for the council and the amount depends on the package offered but is typically between £1000 and £3000.

All funding has to be applied for by completing an application form which is available from our website or can be collected from Allerdale House. Further details from Alexandra Bell 01900 702714

Applications will next be considered in September. Deadline for applications is 27th August. So if you have an event taking place between September and April this is the panel to apply for!
