The weekend starts at Keswick Pool for young people in the area

22 November 2013

Allerdale Borough Council in partnership with Inspira is supporting a new Friday Night Project in Keswick for young people.

Funding from the Police Crime Commissioner to help provide positive activities for young people and reduce anti-social behaviour across the Borough has extended the provision of the current Friday Night Project to now include Keswick Leisure Pool.

Young people aged between 11-17 years can now use the pool for free from 7pm until 8.30pm on Friday evenings, and those aged over 16 can also access the fitness facility as well as the pool.

Councillor Phil Tibble, Allerdale Borough Council Executive Member with responsibility for Customer and Regulatory Services, said: “We are committed to working with partners like Inspira to improve the quality and range of facilities available for young people across the Borough. By extending the current Friday Night Project to include Keswick’s Leisure Pool, we are not just encouraging young people off the streets; we’re also giving them a chance to improve their overall health and wellbeing for free through exercise.”

Anyone interested in using the facilities just needs to turn up and look out for session times over the Christmas holiday period. There is no need to book a place.
