Water-themed guess equals competition success

Wednesday 9 November 2016

Three month’s free membership of the new swimming pool and leisure centre in Workington has given one Cumbrian woman a fitness boost.

Joanne Reed, of Workington, entered an Allerdale Borough Council competition to coincide with the opening of the fantastic new facilities. She correctly answered that there are 350,300 litres of water in the learner pool of the leisure centre to win the top prize.

Joanne was presented with her prize by Leisure Centre Manager, Garry Schubert, and says she can’t wait to get to take advantage of all the fitness activities the new leisure centre has to offer. She added: “I entered to competition to give myself some motivation to keep active now that the weather is getting colder and the dark nights are drawing in. This is my first visit to the new centre and I’m really impressed by how bright and fresh it feels, so I’m looking forward to putting my membership to good use. I try to keep fit as much as possible, and I’m a squash player, so I’ll be trying out the new courts, as well as having a go at the fitness classes on offer.”

Memberships are available for the new leisure centre online at or by visiting the new leisure centre in person. Individual, family, junior and corporate packages are available.
