Parish Council unveils new noticeboards in Loweswater

Thursday 12 October 2017

Loweswater Parish Council has installed new noticeboards at the village hall in an effort to get more people involved in community activities.

The noticeboards, which have been funded by Allerdale Borough Council, Lake District National Park Authority, the Melbreak Communities Group and the Big Lottery ‘Awards for All’ Fund, will be used by a variety of groups and organisations and is open to all to use.

The boards were unveiled at the village hall on Thursday 12 October, with Loweswater Parish Councillors and representatives from the funding groups due to attend.

David Smith, the Clerk to the Parish Council, said: “The new noticeboards should last a good twenty years and will be of real benefit to both the Parish Council and the numerous community groups that use them to promote their activities. Without the financial support of Allerdale Borough Council, together with our other funders, a small Parish Council such as Loweswater would not have been able to deliver this project that will benefit the whole community.”

Alan Smith, Leader of Allerdale Borough Council, added: “The Council understands the importance of community initiatives and engaging local people can often be challenging. These noticeboards will be an ideal way for individuals, groups and organisations to let the public know about their activities and I am pleased we have had the opportunity to support the project.”
