Have your say on the information needed to support planning applications

Allerdale Borough Council is encouraging residents to share their opinions on the information they need to submit when making a planning application.

The ‘Draft Local Validation Requirements List’ outlines the documents that must be submitted at a national and local level in order to validate any planning application. If the correct essential information is provided at the start of the application, the planning process can be quick and accurate.

The proposed list has been streamlined to ensure that items and requirements on the local list are only requested where they are proportionate to the nature, scale and location of the proposed development, and on matters that are relevant to the application. The Council is aware of not placing any unnecessary burden or cost on people preparing and submitting applications and has developed a more robust list.

The consultation commences on Monday 17th August 2015 and will run until Monday 7th September 2015. Responses from Allerdale residents as well as stakeholders and statutory consultees such as the Environment Agency and Town and Parish Councils, will help to mould the final document into a useful tool for people wishing to submit all types of planning applications.  This will then be published on the Council’s website later this year.

All planning applications have to be assessed against the policies set out in the Local Plan.
