Public Meeting On Health Care in West Cumbria
A public meeting which was due to take place
on 3 February about health care in West Cumbria has been delayed
following the takeover of North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS
Trust by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Councillor Alan Smith said: “Events have
overtaken us and overnight the situation has changed. We want to
allow the successful bidder to come to a meeting and explain what
changes they are planning to make and what they are going to do
about our hospitals.
“I will be contacting Jim Mackey, the chief
executive of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, to ask
him to come to a meeting and explain how he plans to tackle the
health problems in West Cumbria and how he intends to improve
health care in our communities.
“I am pleased to hear the news about the new
Foundation Trust; hopefully it will mean a fresh start for health
care in West Cumbria.”
