Have your say on taxi fares in new consultation exercise

Thursday 26 January 2017

Taxi drivers are being encouraged to have their say on whether changes should be made to fares in Allerdale.

The fees are reviewed every year but haven’t actually been altered since 2010. They are due to be discussed at a meeting of Allerdale Borough Council’s licensing committee in the next few weeks and, in the meantime, the licensing team is asking drivers to contribute to their review.

Councillor Konrad Hansen, Allerdale Borough Council’s Executive member for regulatory services, said: “We know our taxi drivers can have strong views about whether fares should go up or down and we encourage them to share those with us.

“But remember, we can only include comments which are sent directly to the licensing department in our report to the committee, not views that are shared online on social media or in the press, so if you’ve got anything to say, please say it to us!”

Anyone with comments to make regarding any element of the rate of taxi fares should do so by Friday 10 February 2017. Responses can be sent to the Council offices at Allerdale House in Workington or by email to licensing@allerdale.gov.uk. More details can be found at: www.allerdale.gov.uk/consultation
