The Recycled River Cottage

Residents have been encouraged to recycle over the Christmas period with a spoof online video produced by Allerdale Borough Council.

Titled “The Recycled River Cottage”, the short film offers festive tips for people to ensure the Christmas tree is not the only thing that is green during the holiday season.

Wearing a Santa hat, the Council’s very own “Hugh Fearnley-Wittering-on-about-it-all” presents advice on how non-metallic wrapping paper, Christmas cards and cardboard packaging can all be recycled in the paper bin. He also enjoys a festive tipple before slinging a purple bag over his shoulder – filled with recyclable glass jars, tin cans and plastic bottles – for collection from the kerbside.

For more information on recycling, call Allerdale Borough Council’s Recycling team on 01900 702800, email: street.scene@allerdale.gov.uk or visit the Council's recycling page.
