The Solway Coast AONB

The Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) stretches across 118 square kilometres from Rockcliffe Marsh on the Scottish border to just north of Maryport.

The landscape features a wide range of sight-seeing attractions, from historic Roman sites and fascinating wildlife to colourful floral displays and breathtaking views across the Solway Firth.

It was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1964 and is managed in partnership with Allerdale Borough Council, Carlisle City Council, Cumbria County Council, Natural England, the Solway Firth Partnership and the Environment Agency.

For more information, contact the Solway Coast AONB team on 016973 33055 or visit the Solway Coast AONB page.
