Furniture recycling

Allerdale Borough Council is urging its residents to recycle their old furniture when they no longer need it.

Many people use the Council’s bulky collection service to take away their large items however this carries a charge and the items end up going to landfill – even though they may be of a good enough quality to be re-used by someone else.

Instead, the Council would like people to consider donating their household items to community initiatives such as Impact Furniture Services, which will pick them up free of charge – provided they are of re-usable quality – and take them to its showroom in Workington, where they can find a new home.
