Elections

Allerdale Borough Council's Electoral Registration Section
administers the organisation of all elections at Parish, Borough,
County, Parliamentary (Workington Constituency) and European levels
taking place with the Borough of Allerdale.
The Electoral Registration Section undertakes a statutory
function to prepare and produce the Annual Register of Electors for
the whole of the Borough currently amounting to some 76,000 names
which include the entire Workington constituency and part of
the Penrith and the Border Constituency. The area of both
constituencies changed effective from the 1997 Parliamentary
General Election, when Workington constituency gained some 9100
electors transferred from Penrith and the Border.
Boundary changes are set to take place at the next Parliamentary
election. The Workington Constituency will gain electors from
the Penrith and The Border Constituency (part of which belongs to
Eden District
Council) but will also loose some electors to the Copeland
Constituency (which belongs to Copeland Borough Council).
This table shows which constituency Allerdale's wards will fall
under at the next Parliamentary Election.
