Overview & Scrutiny

Are there any of the Council's services that could be improved?

Scrutiny is a process that allows Councillors to look at the quality of services that affect the lives of people of Allerdale.

The Local Government Act enabled local authorities to set up new arrangements examining issues, developing policy and holding the Executive to account. Allerdale Borough Council takes these powers very seriously. Overview and Scrutiny is about councillors working together with local people, businesses, service partners and the community to improve policies and services. We believe Scrutiny can make a difference! Overview and Scrutiny Reviews involve looking at issues in detail, searching out best practice in Councils and other similar organisations and coming up with ideas for improvements and change. Councillors will take evidence and research from a range of sources and will draw together their conclusions at the end of a review in a report.   Co-Chairs of Community Overview & Scrutiny Co-Chairs of Corporate Overview & Scrutiny:
