Partnership working
Partnership working is playing an increasingly
important role in local government.
In 2005, the Audit Commission's report
'Governing Partnerships: Bridging the Accountability Gap'
recognised that local partnerships are essential to deliver
improvements in local people's quality of life.
Partnerships can bring significant
benefits. They can provide flexibility, innovation and
additional financial and human resources to improve service
delivery to the community.
Allerdale Borough Council recognises the strength and value of
effective partnerships in contributing to the improvement of
service delivery and in meeting its strategic priorities. We
recognise that we do not have the resources to do everything
ourselves and so we are committed to working with others to develop
and deliver our shared goals more efficiently.
The Council is involved in partnerships to tackle unemployment,
regenerate towns, transform housing and neighbourhoods, keep the
borough clean and green, reduce crime, and provide leisure
facilities and children’s summer activities, among others.
Three examples of the Council’s successful partnerships are with
Derwent and Solway Housing Association, the Routes to Work
employment initiative and Carlisle Leisure Limited who manage the
Council’s leisure centres. Watch our
successful partnerships film to find out more.
