Our Parks and Open Spaces
Within Allerdale are a wide variety of open spaces accessible to
the general public including parks, nature reserves and play areas.
We welcome everyone to these areas, asking that visitors are
responsible. Please:
- Pick up after yourselves and your dogs.
- Use the litter bins provided
- Be considerate of other park users and the wildlife within the
parks.
Allerdale Borough Council looks after the following areas within
the Borough:

please note that not all of these are maintained by Allerdale
Borough Council.

Allerdale Borough Council provides and maintains formal &
informal play facilities throughout the Borough. 
Other play facilities are provided by Town/ Parish Councils and
voluntary groups. The Borough Council gives advice regarding
technical issues and funding opportunities as part of its enabling
role.
Camp Road, Maryport; Flimby Playground, Flimby; Hunters Drive,
Seaton; Vulcan Park, Workington; Harrington Marina, Harrington;
Harris Park, Cockermouth and Bellbrigg Lonning, Cockermouth are
seven of the larger play areas that the Council is responsible
for.
These have facilities for toddlers (under fives) as well as for
older children. Facilities include:
- Agility
- Swings
- Basketball
- Social Play
- Wheelplay
- Seating areas
- Dog proof fencing surrounds

Join our volunteers 
Allerdale Borough Council works with The Friends of Harrington
Nature Reserve, The Friends of Siddick Ponds Nature Reserve and The
Friends of Workington Hall Parklands to improve habitat for
wildlife and the quality of open spaces available to the local
community. These friends groups welcome new members, particularly
active volunteers!
If you are interested in taking part, meeting new friends or
even just having a say in the future of our parks and open spaces
