Part-time Information Assistant


18.5  hours per week
Scale E (pro-rata) £17491 - £19430
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised person to provide administrative and technical support in the logging and processing of information requests received by the Council. The role will involve handling Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulation and Data Protection information requests and making sure that requests are processed and responded to within statutory timeframes. The requests we get cover the whole range of Council services so the job will give you the opportunity to work with people across the organisation. Ideally you will have experience of working with records systems as well as excellent organisational and communication skills – knowledge of Freedom of Information and Data Protection is also desirable. Interviews to be held on 23 February 2018

Governance Support Assistant - Temporary


18.5  hours per week
Scale E (pro rata) £17419 - £19430
We are looking for someone on a temporary basis to cover a period of secondment expecting to last up to 31 May 2018. The hours and days are flexible. The successful applicant will assist the the Democratic and Support Services Manager in delivering the Governance service plan, provide a high quality service to its customers by delivering the service in line with the Council’s values.

Building Control Manager


37  hours per week
Scale Grade P - up to £45,000 £38237 - £45000
Job Purpose: The post holder role is responsible for the strategic development and organization of the Building Control Service and will lead to the efficient and effective establishment and running of a business. This challenging and exciting new role will help the service move forward with an external facing customer focus and an eye for developing new markets. The main purpose is to lead on generating income for the service and creating more business. Main Duties and Responsibilities: •To lead and manage an effective and efficient building control service to ensure a seamless and modern approach to the delivery of the service •To lead and manage the Building Control Service in accordance with the business plan and ensure that the service meets the annual business plan and service plan targets in its entirety and also the professional mandatory and statutory standards including Health, Safety and Welfare •Manage the business and marketing opportunities in order to increase income and to participate in the marketing of the service and be aware of the marketing strategy in order to integrate in the day to day operations of the service •Manage the LABC Warranty scheme and subsequent inspections •To manage the development of the service into a profit making company with an entrepreneurial and imaginative attitude •To manage recruitment and staffing issues as necessary •To manage and develop employees to create a culture where they feel able to generate imaginative and effective solutions to service delivery issues. •To proactively take forward and maximise business development and marketing opportunities in accordance with the business plan generating imaginative and effective solutions to deliver a service of excellence and maximise income •To manage a team cascade system for dangerous structures (including out of hours inspections) and documenting the record of activity including preparing for and attending a Court as an expert witness including the work associated with the control of demolitions •To manage the carrying out of inspections and record keeping, including out of hours inspections, to provide advice regarding the safety of sports grounds and other public events •To manage the activities within the service and contribute to the development of systems to ensure excellence in: o Performance management o Financial management o Information, Communication and Technology o Service improvement •To ensure that the service has adequate and effective trading agreements with the Councils and the clients for the provision of building control services and additional functions •To lead on the procurement of supplies and services including support services for the partnership •To make recommendations to and actively service the Council regarding the client base, trading agreements, charging policies, levels of service, performance indicators, profit and other necessary matters •To explain and generate enthusiasm for the service and encourage appropriate behaviours within teams/partners/colleagues •To conduct all duties with regard to the employment standards, procedures and practices including, for example, health and safety and risk management •Providing effective leadership and development for the team and to encourage best practice in a business partnership working arrangement •Provide an effective platform for new local authority partners to join the service •Undertaking effective communication with agents, colleagues, service managers, councillors, town and parish councils, outside agencies and the wider community •Developing the integration of duties and providing support to the development management and enforcement services of the local authority planning services •Promoting and encouraging use of the Local Authority Building Control service, including associated products and business partners The above is not exhaustive and the post holder will be expected to undertake any duties which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and the competence of the post as directed by the Head of Service.
