Elections

Allerdale Borough Council's Electoral Registration Section
administers the organisation of all elections at Parish, Borough,
County, Parliamentary (Workington Constituency) and European levels
taking place with the Borough of Allerdale.
The Electoral Registration Section undertakes a statutory
function to prepare and produce the Annual Register of Electors for
the whole of the Borough currently amounting to some 76,000 names
which include the entire Workington constituency, part of the
Penrith ad the Border Constituency (the rest of which belongs to
Eden
District Council) and part of the Copeland Constituency (the
rest of which belongs to Copeland
Borough Council).
Borough and Parish Council Elections
Allerdale Borough Council is one of six borough councils in
Cumbria. You are represented by 56 councillors.
The last Borough Council Elections took place on
Thursday 3rd May 2007 and were combined with Parish Council
Elections.

At Borough Council Elections Harry Dyke (Allerdale's Chief
Executive) is the Returning Officer.
Parish and Town Elections
Parish and Town Councils provide representation at the
most local level and can provide local leisure, tourist and
recreation services.
Parish/Town Council Elections are held once every four years and
are almost always combined with the Borough Elections. The
last lot of Parish Council Elections took place on Thursday
3rd May 2007.
At Parish Council Elections Harry Dyke is the
Returning Officer.

County Council Elections
Cumbria County Council is responsible for county-wide services
including highways, education, social services and libraries. You
are represented by 16 county councillors.
The last County Council Elections took place on 4th June
2009 when the poll was combined with European Parliamentary
Elections. The statement of results can be found in the

below.
At County Council Elections Harry Dyke is the Deputy
Returning Officer and Patricia Diane Wood is the Returning
Officer.
Parliamentary Elections
The last Parliamentary Election took place on 6th May 2010,
this was run on the new parliamentary boundaries which came into
force when parliament was disolved on 12th April. Details of

At Parliamentary Elections Harry Dyke is the Acting Returning
Officer and The High Sheriff is the Returning Officer.
European Parliamentary Elections
European Parliamentary Elections took place on 4th June
2009 when they were combined with the County Council
Elections. The statement of results for the North West Region can

In European Parliamentary Elections Harry Dyke (Allerdale
Borough Council's Electoral Registration Officer) is the Local
Returning Officer and the Regional Returning Officer is Sir Howard
