20/12/2010 - Further disruption to Council services due to snow
Allerdale Borough Council would like to advise that in light of the current bad weather some changes have been made to some Council services.
Waste collections:
The Council’s waste collection contractor Focsa is currently experiencing some disruption in Workington, Maryport, Seaton, Dearham and along coastal areas towards Silloth.
If it is not possible to collect the bins in a particular area, the Council aims to return to empty the bins before the next collection and will make every effort to do so. Customers are asked to leave their bins out and to secure any excess waste in bags, which may be placed out for collection along with their bins.
Focsa will continue to review the situation and we will keep the public informed of any changes.
Street cleaning:
Mechanical sweeping has been postponed to allow the cleaning crews to clear litter and help with gritting in places where there are vulnerable people, such as residential areas for elderly people, disabled access ramps, etc.
The Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Public toilets:
The following public toilets are open:
1) Aspatria, Queen Street
2) Maryport, Harbour
3) Cockermouth, Main Street
4) Keswick, Belle Close and Lakeside.
Car parks:
All pay and display car parks are currently open and accessible with care.
Customer service centres:
All customer service centres are currently open. Should customers have difficulty getting to one of the centres, they can access most council services and make payments through the Council’s website, www.allerdale.gov.uk. Payments can also be made through the automated payments line on 01900 702666 (24 hours).
