23/03/2011 - Repairs to be carried out on Derwentwater Foreshore retaining wall
Repair work is to be carried out to parts of the retaining wall at the Derwentwater Foreshore in Keswick next week.
Allerdale Borough Council is undertaking the structural repairs which involve the casting of a concrete toe beam at the base of the existing wall to stabilise it and protect it against erosion so that residents and visitors may continue to enjoy the scenic location.
Parts of the foreshore will have to be fenced off for the duration of the works but it is hoped that disruption can be kept to a minimum.
The necessary repair work is due to start on 28 March 2011 and last for a period of up to six weeks but progress will be dependant on weather conditions and the water level of the lake.
