Access Guide 2008
Introduction

This guide is the fourth publication and has been
prepared by Allerdale Building Control Services in conjunction with
the Allerdale Disability Association. The guide provides updated
information and listing of buildings that are accessible throughout
the borough.
In recent years real progress has
been made to improve access for all people to public buildings,
shops and tourist attractions, leisure facilities and private
housing.

This access guide is
provided free of charge to help both visitors and residents by
listing buildings and amenities that are accessible. The list is
not exhaustive but is based on information available at the time
and in many cases without access audits, information being supplied
by the respective establishments. Find accessible buildings from

Users of this guide are advised to check directly
with any of the establishments listed to ensure that their own
specific needs will be catered for. This Guide promotes inclusive
design for all. Many improvements have been made locally and it is
hoped that this trend will continue. This guide will raise
awareness of the facilities available and provide vital information
for designers, service providers and home owners so that continual
improvement can be achieved.
