Introduction

Cockermouth cemeteryAllerdale manage 8 cemeteries and 12 closed churchyards throughout the borough.
The cemeteries under our control are listed on the cemetery page.
The bereavement services office is based at The Customer Service Centre, Town Hall, Workington. From here the council's eight cemeteries are administered and any public enquiries answered.
The council has achieved the Charter for the Bereaved and is a member of the ABA (Association of Burial Authorities).  The bereavement staff are members of the ICCM (Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management).

We are constantly working towards improving the services for the benefit and comfort of the bereaved, and offer free help and advice on all aspects of bereavement. It is our intention to provide an excellent standard of care and consideration. As we aim to provide a sympathetic service we are always pleased to receive helpful comments that may lead to an improved service.
