Dog Issues

Allerdale Borough Council's Environmental Wardens offer a number of services to local dog owners:

  • Dog fouling enforcement & complaints 
  • Distribution of free poop scoops
  • Collection of stray dogs & stray dog complaints
  • Microchipping
  • Assistance with missing dogs and cats
  • Rehoming of dogs
  • Investigation of noise and smell nuisance
  • Dog exclusion areas enforcement & complaints 
  • Dogs on leads enforcement & complaints
  • Advice on general animal welfare 
  • Advice on responsible dog ownership 
  • Educational programmes for schools/groups

Reporting of Stray Dogs

From 6 April 2008, if you find a stray dog contact Allerdale Borough Council on 01900 702800. If a dog is found after 5.15pm please ring Allerdale Borough Council’s out of hours service on 01900 871080.
