Parks and open spaces - general information

Allerdale
Borough Council is constantly endeavouring to enhance its
Parks,
open
spaces, outdoor recreation areas and play facilities through
partnership working on various projects. This is being undertaken
by means of an ongoing programme of
children's
playground provision, landscaping,
wildlife areas, and the traditional
flowerbeds.
The Parks Development Officer
and Technical Officer (Leisure) are on hand to answer any
queries regarding horticultural, arboricultural, or play
issues.
Vulcan Park Consultation
The views of members of the public are being
sought to help shape proposals for improvements to Vulcan Park at
Workington.
Consultation leaflets that
were distributed to residents, schools, local groups and users
gave important feedback to what people feel the most important
aspects of a park are.
The results of both the leaflet consultation
and a following public workshop are available on the Vulcan park
website.
Should you wish to contribute or have an
comments please e-mail parks.development@allerdale.gov.uk

Soft
Landscaping in the form of tree and shrub planting is also ongoing.
It is necessary to manage the Councils mature tree stock through
the removal of dead and dangerous trees and planting of new
specimens. It is also necessary to enhance the environment through
the development of schemes involving the planting of trees and
ornamental shrubs.
Our flowerbeds, hanging baskets and associated
floral features are very high profile in the town centres, and this
provision is greatly appreciated by both local people and the many
visitors to the area.
