Latest News
5th June 2008 - The Council is currently trying
to identify land available for housing land within the various
towns and villages of the borough. We have sent out a Call
for Sites to encourage people to send us information on
land they think may be suitable. A form has been produced to help
you submit this infomation, should you wish to do so. It is
available for download on the Strategic
Housing Land Availability Assessment page. Please ensure that
any sites you wish to submit reach us by the 25th July
2008.
7th April 2008 - The
Allerdale Strategic Flood Risk Assessment
(SFRA) has now been completed. This document shows those
areas of the borough at possible risk from flooding. The SFRA
is available to download here.
25th March 2008 - The Council formally adopted
the Cockermouth Conservation Area Design Guide
Supplementary Document on the 5th March 2008. There now
follows a 3 month period in which any persons aggrieved by the
SPD may apply to the High Court for a judicial review of the
decision to adopt. The document can be viewed here.
28th February 2008 - The Council has published
an Open Space Study, looking at recreation spaces across the
borough. More details can be found here,

28th February 2008 - The Council has identified
enough land to satisfy its five year housing land supply. More
details can be found here, on our new
Evidence Base page.
15th February 2008 - The Council formally
adopted the Wind Energy Supplementary Planning
Document on the 23rd January 2008. There now follows a 3
month period in which any persons aggrieved by the SPD may
apply to the High Court for a judicial review of the decision
to adopt. The document can be viewed here.
9th January 2008 - The Annual
Monitoring Report covering the period for
2006-2007 has now been published. It is available
to download here, along with reports
from previous years.
Policy Team
Currently there are 5 members of the Planning Policy team,
headed by Mr. Richard Evans. We are based in the Regeneration
section of the Council and are contactable via the details
below.
Our main task is to implement the change from the old
Local Plan system to the emerging
Local Development Framework. We are
involved in preparing planning policy for those parts of the
Allerdale district that are outside of the
Lake District
National Park.
