Open Space Audit
In order to meet the requirements of Planning Policy Guidance
Note 17: Planning for Open Space and Recreation (PPG17), the
Council has commissioned consultants PMP to produce a study of
open spaces across the borough. This study is now available for
download below. It includes an audit, a local needs assessment and
a section on the setting of local standards for open and green
spaces.
The audit identified all types of recreation space
contained within the settlements of the borough, assessing each in
terms of quality, accessibility and overall quantity. The local
needs assessment gathered data, through public consultation,
on the levels of resident satisfaction regarding local open spaces.
This data was then used, in combination with the findings of the
audit, to establish a collection of local standards based on
quality, accessibility and quantity for the main settlement areas
of the borough.
