Public Art in Major New Development SPD

The purpose of the SPD is to add weight and context to the proposed public art policies that will be included within the emerging Local Development Framework. To offer a reliable definition of ‘public art’ and provide guidance on the commissioning, funding and maintaining of it. As of yet, no formal objectives for the SPD have been set out. It can be assumed however, that the document will aim to ensure the provision of high quality art works within the public realm funded largely by developers depending on the size, scale and location of new developments.

The SPD will be subject to the standard sustainability appraisal process. A Scoping report, the first part of this process, has now been produced and amended in response to comments received during consultation. The document is available to download below.
