Household waste - collection

Allerdale Borough Council in partnership with Focsa Services provides a weekly refuse collection service from domestic properties.

To find out when your bins will be collected simply enter either your house name or number and the postcode in the form below then press "Go!".

If no results are found for collections from your property, please call the customer service centre on 01900 702800.

Collection days may change during holiday periods, please consult our holiday refuse collection page for full details. Please leave bins out for collection at the edge of the property by 7.00 a.m. on day of collection.  To find out if your property is included on the garden waste and paper recycling schemes please email recycling@allerdale.gov.uk or telephone 01900 702800. A missed bin collection can be reported using the missed bin electronic form.

Tins of Paint

Recently we have had a number of reports of tins of paint being placed out for collection with household rubbish.

Please do not put paint tins in your wheeled bins or black bags.

When tins of paint enter the collection vehicle the compaction mechanism crushes the tin and any leftover paint spills out onto the road and can be very difficult to clean up.

Empty or left over paint tins can be taken to any Household Waste Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site) for disposal. Please do not take paint tins to supermarket recycling points.

For your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre please visit www.cumbria.gov.uk or call Cumbria County Council on 01228 606060.

Alternatively, why not see if your friends or relatives can make use of the paint or donate it to a community project such as Community RePaint (www.communityrepaint.org.uk) who use the leftover paint to support community projects.

Community RePaint has a collection facility at the Syke Road Household Waste Recycling Centre in Wigton.

Rubble

Rubble from domestic premises can be taken to any Household Waste Recycling Centres run by Cumbria County Council. The rubble must be bagged by the Householder and must be light enough to be lifted by one person. Private contractors who hold a Waste Carriers Licence, should be contacted for the removal of larger amounts of rubble.

If a householder has other bulky items to be removed such as a door or windows a quotation can be given for the removal of these by Allerdale Borough Council. The items must be paid for prior to the collection being made.
