Seaside awards
Allerdale Borough
Council has been successful in regaining the Seaside Awards for
Lees Scar and Silloth Towers at Silloth plus Allonby West Beach and
Allonby Salt Pans.
The Seaside Awards are an annual UK award run
by
ENCAMS,
formerly the Tidy Britain Group, and means that these sites have
met the criteria for bathing water quality, public amenities as
well as meeting a strict environmental standard in
cleanliness.
In addition, a Blue Flag has also been awarded
for Maryport Marina indicating that the Marina has demonstrated
that it has met the guidelines for water quality and that the
surroundings are free from sewage and litter.
The Seaside Awards have been running for a
number of years now and are recognised by tourists as a clean and
safe place to visit and bathe.
