Animal welfare
Allerdale Borough Council currently employ two
Environmental Wardens. The role of the Environmental Warden is
divided into two:
- Dog Warden duties, dealing with issues such as
stray dogs, the enforcement of dog bylaws, noise and
smell nuisance caused by dogs, dog
fouling etc.
- Litter Warden duties, dealing with issues
such as litter offenders, the
investigation of fly tipping, the storage
of domestic and commercial waste so that
it does not cause a nuisance and education which is targeted at Key
Stages 1 and 2. We also enforce all relevant legislation regarding
the above.

Allerdale's Animal Welfare service provides educational support
to encourage responsible animal ownership. Advice can be offered
regarding most animals. The service also provides information
on general animal welfare e.g. who to contact if you think an
animal is being mistreated, or if you find an injured animal.
