Responsible pet ownership
Good dog behaviour and obedience is important. You need to train
your dogs in the basics of obedience
and socialisation.

We support The Kennel Club's Good Citizen Dog Scheme, which is
run within many of our dog training groups. The scheme gives owners
an understanding of what is expected of a responsible dog owner and
how to train their dogs to be sociable and obedient. The dogs and
handlers are assessed on three levels of competency resulting
in bronze, silver or gold awards.
Education
Our Environmental Wardens have created an educational programme
which highlights the importance of responsible dog ownership to
schools and groups. We will explain to you what a stray dog
is, the equipment and techniques we use to catch and contain strays
and what you need to do if you are approached by a strange dog.
To request one of our
educational talks for your school or group simply contact
our Environmental Warden team via any of the methods at the bottom
of the page.
